May Programs Just Around the Corner and QF#3

JV Handstand

It hasn't felt much like spring yet. Lots of those sunny but not quite warm days teasing us in hoping for warmer temps. For the youth program, April seems to have just flown by. We are excited for our new programs coming and continuing our current offerings, but before I tell you about that I wanted to rave about our Varsity youth for achieving some great personal records this past Monday.

One of the things that the youth athletes like to do, no wait, love to do is lift heavy. They always want to go after those 1 rep max lifts, especially the deadlift. As fun as that is, it is important to not put that amount of strain on both their physical muscles and the central nervous system, therefore, we don't do it very often. The last time we lifted heavy was in early January of this year. On Monday, every single athlete recorded a personal record. The range was anywhere from 5lbs up to 45lbs gain. Form was good, they took their time and slowly and safely climbed. Huge shout out to Havoc, F-Bomb, JS, CT, Speedy, E, KJ, TK, KH, KD for amazing lifts. These athletes all gained 30+ lbs on their deadlift. Many of them were amazed at the gain when they felt like they hadn't been deadlifting. I just looked at them and said, "there's more than one way to get strong". It was very cool as a coach to see the grins and the excitement around their own success.

Family Fit
Come join our next session of Family Fit. This four week program will run May 12 & 26 and June 2 & 9. We have had a great time the past couple of months with just this past week introducing front squats to the group. Except for our experienced Sandman with his daughter, it was a new movement for everyone else. All had a great time. For more details and to register follow our link FAMILYFIT

Thursday Workout: Quarter Finals #3

For those who might be deterred from taking on handstand pushups, don't run away from this workout. It is an excellent opportunity to scale back and work on the skill progressions that will help you get stronger in the areas you need.

3 Rounds:
10 Handstand Pushup
20 Toes to Bar

2 Rounds:
10 Strict Handstand Pushups
5 Rope Climbs; 15 feet

1 Rounds
10 chest to wall handstand pushups
20 muscle ups

Time Cap: 15 Minutes
