Parents are Awesome!

Last Friday night I had the fortunate opportunity to watch a couple of the Varsity athletes perform in their school musical. Speedy and Havoc took on their roles in Mamma Mia with smiles and excitement. They showed they could sing and dance and it was downright hilarious at times. My children are all grown up but no grandkids yet (phew!) but I do miss those fun kid activities like watching them play soccer or perform on stage. Raising kids is a hard job and when I see these amazing kids in a different place from CrossFit it shows how well rounded and balanced they are. I was so grateful that I could share this moment with the parents. I was proud of them, so I suspect they were too. Congrats to Speedy and Havoc’s parents and all the parents of the Empower Youth program. You are probably not told often enough but keep up the good work!

Youth Programs
Many of you may have seen, the youth classes are bursting. We have a huge Varsity class and a big Junior Varsity and Homeschool PE class. This month we have had the opportunity to do some Dryland Training with the Vikings swim club. Every Sunday we are running two classes back to back helping those athletes with conditioning, core and strength training. It has been super fun and I think the kids like it too!

ELEV8 Plus

New Official Assistant Coach

You may have met F-Bomb in a recent blog post, butI wanted to say congratulations for joining the Empower Youth Program as an official assistant coach. F-Bomb has been volunteering for over a year now with the Junior Varsity program. He has learned quickly how to manage a class and kids, demonstrate and teach movements and even work the timeclock!I am so glad to be his mentor and have him as part of the team. Kudos to HHH and Smash for raising a great young man. 

Workout

Thursday’s workout is an upper body challenge. Combining burpees with handstand walk or a variation of the handstand walk will cause fatigue in those upper muscles, making it more difficult to get through. The coaches on Thursday will help you scale for those who have not mastered the handstand walk. It should be fun, because we all know burpees are your friend!
