Inner calm for the Win

Thought of the day

It is important to find that inner calmness. You can easily be pulled in many different directions if you do not find your inner peace. As a go getter it can be really hard to be in the present moment because there are so many other things you want to and need to tackle. But if you really want to give this thing your all you should pay it the attention it deserves.

In competition my biggest down falls always, happen when I am focused elsewhere and not being in the present. This lack of focus can come from life events, previous competitions, or even your daily stresses.  If you do not work on your routine and have away to get yourself dialed in you will be like a flag in the wind on game day. What routine and practice will you use to get your head in the game even if things are falling apart around you? It’s easy to get after it in the good times but how will you be in the hard times?

One way athletically to get yourself dialed in is to have the same warm up routine (like the champion warm up), or thing you do to start a match. This pattern does not need to only be for the athletic area but you can do the same for your work as well. Perhaps its setting up your work station or finding a quote of the day that will link with your writing.  This is important for the bad, unmotivated, and busy days. Things still need to get done even if you are not at one hundred percent. Whether that thing is a workout, important work task, or projects find your inner calm and put your best effort into that task.

What if I don’t want to?

Age against the machine

This week has a lot of underlying stress for me. There are quarterfinals, travel, and some personal challenges on the horizon. If I waited for the stars to align nothing would get done.  Regardless of the things happening around you, you still have the power to step up and give things your best effort. No one can take away from who you are unless you let them.  This week your challenge: regardless of the world around you find your inner peace, efficiency routine,  and put your best foot forward into the things that matter for you.
